The Packaging Recycling Organization Vietnam (PRO Vietnam) hosted a workshop on the successful implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in Vietnam on October 26. The event drew a significant number of members, including manufacturing businesses, companies, and organizations concerned about the urban environment and waste recycling.
Vietnam will be the first country in Southeast Asia to implement EPR regulations on January 1, 2024. Accordingly, the manufacturer’s responsibility is extended to the disposal stage of that product. EPR is regarded as an important tool in solid waste management and a driving force in Vietnam’s promotion of the circular economy. Redirecting waste streams not only reduces pressure on the natural environment, but also increases economic efficiency, alters societal awareness, and fosters innovation.
The workshop was a valuable opportunity for all relevant parties to meet, exchange ideas, and contribute suggestions so that EPR can be implemented efficiently and successfully in Vietnam.
Global Vietnam Lawyers is honored to be the sole legal partner that has accompanied PRO Vietnam throughout the implementation of its tasks and mission to protect the environment and promote the circular economy model for sustainable development.
